The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 6
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
While we are all very excited to get our hands on Call Of Duty: WWII. Before that we are taking a trip down memory lane, looking at the past Call Of Duty games.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 2009,PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS
2009 would see Infinity War get another turn to release a Call Of Duty game and they released Modern Warfare 2, a sequel to the first Modern Warfare. This is not just a sequel in the name. It is an actual continuation of the story from the last game which is really cool. The story once again is written so very well and it is like you are playing a role in an over the top action movie.
As awesome as the campaign was, there was some controversy with a scene that was a massacre in a Russian airport. It is pretty hard to watch, but it does add to the drama of the story. Interestingly, the game gives you the option to skip this if you want.
As awesome as the campaign was. At the time of release while many people appreciated the sky high production values. Many did say that they felt the campaign was a little too short, especially when compared to what the last couple of COD games offered.
The multiplayer mode was very popular, it was one of the most played games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It had all the modes that you would expect, but some gamers were disappointed in the lack of a Zombies mode or some other similar kind of mode.
An interesting side note about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is that rather than try and replicate the more powerful console versions. The Nintendo DS and Wii would get their own, unique versions of Modern Warfare 2.
The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 5
Call Of Duty World At War
call of duty world at war
Call Of Duty: World At War 2008 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS
By 2008, Call Of Duty was one of, if not the biggest annual gaming franchise. For this game, Treyarch would take the series back to the past with a much more gritty and realistic take on World War 2.
The story mode this time around was very hard hitting, starting off with a scene where you see your squad being tortured. In the campaign, you will play as three different characters in a story that is very well written, with excellent voice acting.
Being able to stand, crouch and lay down added a lot of strategy to multiplayer battles, especially as if you could hide, you could regenerate some health. There are hidden Death Cards in the campaign which will unlock cool cheats and features for the multiplayer mode which are a lot of fun.
As awesome as the single player campaign and the multiplayer is, Call Of Duty: World At War would introduce something that would become a staple of the series, Zombies! Zombies saw you just have to try and survive wave after wave of Nazi Zombies! It was a fantastic addition to the series and something many of us look forward to with each new COD release.
Call Of Duty: World At War is regarded by many as one of the best games in the series. It is a game that many COD fans are hoping there will be some kind of HD remaster in the near future.
The History Of Call Of Duty: Call Of Duty 4
The Call Of Duty series is one of the most popular gaming franchises of all time! Join us as we take a look back at the games that have led us to Call Of Duty WWII.
Call Of Duty 4
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2007 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii
Before Modern Warfare was released, many gamers saw Call Of Duty as the World War 2 game. But Modern Warfare blew the series open and it became an insanely huge hit. The campaign was set in 2011 and as a result saw the troops use up to date weapons, tactics and vehicles. The campaign was like playing a part in an action movie and the story was told from the point of view of various characters.
Infinity Ward really stacked the multiplayer for Modern Warfare, with experience points and perks for going on a kill streak. The multiplayer was more intense than ever before. A huge reason for this was the gameplay. You could argue that while the other COD games played great. It was Modern Warfare that set the tone for the way the Call Of Duty series is today.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare was a huge success and would sell just under 16 million copies. For years (even after other COD games were released) gamers would play this online on console and PC.
The proof that Modern Warfare is one of the most popular COD games is shown with Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered. Which was an HD remastered version of the game which was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC as part of the special editions of Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Some people actually bought Infinite Warfare just to play this remastered version of Modern Warfare! That is how much people love this game!
The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 3 – Call Of Duty 3
Call Of Duty 3
At Mods “R” Us, we have made sure that when it comes to Call Of Duty our modded Xbox One controllers and our modded PlayStation 4 controllers are the best you can get. No matter if it is for Black Ops 3, Infinite Warfare or one of the older COD games, our controllers are the best! Well, today we are continuing our look at the COD games of the past!
Call Of Duty 3 – 2006 – Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii
It would be Treyarch who would be at the helm for the second time with Call Of Duty 3. One of the most interesting aspects of Call Of Duty 3 is that this was not released on PC! That is right, Call Of Duty was released only on consoles and as well as the current gen (at the time) it was also released for original Xbox and PS2. An interesting fact about the game is that it was a launch title for both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
The campaign in Call Of Duty 3 was very well received. The story was based on the Normandy Breakout and the 14 missions that span the US, UK, Canadian and French forces are all part of one single story. This was a very interesting move for the series and many people liked it better than each faction having its own campaign. The campaign had sky high production values and not a bad word was said about it.
The multiplayer aspect of Call Of Duty 3 was huge. It was one of the most popular online games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It had a lot of game modes and both consoles saw it become one of the most played multiplayer games of 2006 and 2007.
Call Of Duty 3 was a huge game and the fact it was only on consoles makes it the only core Call Of Duty game to have done this.
The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 2 – Call Of Duty 2
We are back with the next installment of our look down memory lane as we see how Call Of Duty became one of the biggest selling and most popular video game series of all time!
The History Of Call Of Duty 2
Call Of Duty 2005 PC, Xbox 360, Mobile
Infinity Ward would once again helm development of the game. It would take two years for a sequel to be released, but most people agree that the extra year was worth it. Call Of Duty 2 expanded on the first game in every way you can imagine.
The main criticism of the first game was that the campaign was too short. Well, this campaign featured a story that that saw you play as a soldier in the Red Army, US Army and two from the British Army. The campaign was diced up into three different stories and in total there were 27 different action packed missions.
A huge part of what made the campaign so great was the presentation. The graphics were just incredible and at the time it really did feel like you were playing a role in a World War 2 movie.
The multiplayer aspect of Call Of Duty was huge and in the early days of the Xbox 360, it was one of the most popular games. Speaking of which, Call Of Duty 2 was actually a launch game for the Xbox 360. To say it was a huge success is a major understatement as it sold over a quarter of a million copies in its first week on sale. It was a huge reason as to why the Xbox 360 was so successful at launch.
Call Of Duty 2 was and still is a fantastic game. Infinity Ward really outdid themselves on the campaign and the multiplayer was really starting to take shape.
The History Of Call Of Duty: Pt 1 Call Of Duty
Call Of Duty is one of the main games that our modded Xbox One controllers and our modded PlayStation 4 controllers are designed for. As a result, we thought we would have a little fun looking back at the origins of the Call Of Duty series.
The History Of Call Of Duty
Call Of Duty 2003 PC, NGage, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
The first Call Of Duty was a very ambitious game. With an American, British and Soviet campaign it was as close to actually being in Saving Private Ryan as you could get at the time. Developed by Infinity Ward, the game was just a huge, huge success and would eclipse Medal Of Honor as the preferred first person shooter.
The campaign was not the longest, but the intense multiplayer would more than make up for it. Released in 2003, Call Of Duty would go on to win many game of the year awards and at the time, many people were excited to see what would be next in this series!
The original Call Of Duty was only released on PC and for some bizarre reason, a port was also done on the Nokia NGage. It would make the jump to consoles, but it would not happen until 2009 as part of the special editions of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The impact made by this first Call Of Duty game cannot be underestimated. 20 years from now, gamers will look back at what a landmark release this was in the world of gaming. As popular and well received as it was, you cannot imagine that the people at Infinity Ward and Activision ever imaged the series would explode into what it has become now.
Thoughts On Call Of Duty WWII Zombie Leak!
This has been all over the internet, but some brave soul has leaked a trailer for the zombie’s mode in Call Of Duty WWII. We were already excited for this mode, just from the images we had seen. But this trailer is just phenomenal and made us even more excited for the game.
Ok so let’s talk about what we saw. This is unlike any other zombies mode, we have experienced before. The zombies look far more terrifying than they have in the past. They had a kind of goofy look to them before, but now they are just like something ripped from an R rated horror movie, they look disgusting and we love it! It is sure to make the zombies mode that extra bit exciting as they look just so horrible and we mean horrible in the best way.
One thing that has also been said is that this zombies mode is going to be more of a horde mode than it has before. We do not know about you, but wave after wave of zombies that look just like they are straight out of hell is awesome to us.
While we really liked the more 80’s light hearted take on zombies in Infinite Warfare. We must say that we feel this is a step in the right direction of the Call Of Duty series and we are sure that some folks will buy this game just for that.
We are super excited about Call Of Duty WWII and we would love to hear you guys thoughts on this new leaked Call Of Duty WWII zombies trailer in the comments section down below.
Old Games Worth Revisiting: Halo Reach
While we specialize in making modded controllers for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and even Xbox 360! But we also love to play games and today we are starting a new series where we look at an older first person shooter game that we feel is worth going back and playing.
Halo Reach (2010)
Ok, so you may think that telling people to go back and play a Halo game and a Halo game released in 2010 and classing it as old is kind of weird. But Halo Reach is one of the best games in the series, but it is also a game that does not get the love it deserves.
Released in 2010, Halo Reach is actually a prequel to the first Halo game. The basics of the story are that the alien race known as the Covenant has put a real beating on humanities resources and the planet of Reach is next in line to be taken down by the Covenant. Instead of playing as Master Chief. You play as Nobel Six part of an elite team of Spartans who has been sent to Reach to try and stop the covenant and figure out what they are doing there. The story is excellent and I would say that this is the one game in the series that does not require you to have played any other Halo games to enjoy it. Of course, if you are into the Halo lore, you will appreciate it much more.
Game play wise, Halo Reach is not reinventing the wheel, but that is ok. It is just so much fun to play and interacting with the other Spartans is really cool and there is a sense of comradery here. The different weapons that you can get, both human and Covenant are cool and in general, it is just a ton of fun to play. Part of what makes this such a great game is the planet of Reach. At the time Halo Reach was released no other Halo game had a world that felt as alive as this.
While many people would have gone back and revisited the older Halo games thanks to The Master Chief Collection (which our modded Xbox One controllers are perfect for) Take the time to also go back and experience this gem, it is one of the games that is actually backwards compatible on Xbox One so there is no excuse.
